Ground Control to House Democrats

Big Government can be seen in many shapes and forms. One of which is a City Council (filled with members with little to no experience in aviation administration) operating an airport that doesn’t even sit in their jurisdiction. Even after House Republicans attached an amendment to SB2162 that will provide the City of Jackson to have the majority on an executive board operating the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport, opposition across the aisle still don’t consider experience in the industry is more important than keeping a city with several of its own issues in control.

House Democrats are filibustering in protest of this bill and others demanding they be read aloud on the House Floor– burning precious time and taxpayers’ dollars.

For those unfamiliar with the workings of the legislative process, bills are sent in their entirety to all members days prior to the scheduled vote and/or debate. Their demand to stall this process reveals their negligence of following an efficient process of government with their lack preparedness to serve their role in the Legislature.
